The first 10,000

Today, I reached one of the milestones that I had set myself. to reach 10,000 words !

And at 17:45 (BST) it happened. a lot of writers would probably laugh and snigger at the thought of a mere 10,000 words, but I am chuffed to pieces.

The book is really coming along, I was unsure to begin with what length of book it would be, if I'm honest I'm still a bit unsure as to how many words, but with where i am in the story I think it will be around 70,000 - 100,000.

Ive also started looking at the Tax implications and ensuring I have signed up with the IRS for an ITIN (Individual Taxation Identification Number).
What a process !!

The characters are all really coming alive with a few new ones in the last few written pages popping up. Their significance to the story not yet know, but each having a part to play.

I wanted to introduce you to a character today so i'd like to write a small piece about Sophie Spencer.

Sophie, is a young police woman who is not afraid to stand up to her male colleagues. She actually gives them quite a run for their money. She doesn't hold back on the things she says and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is David's (main character) crew mate at work on the first day we meet them. She deals with an horrendous scene where a victims life hangs in the balance. She remains calm and deals with the job professionally until help arrives. During this event another character comes into play who has an effect on Sophie although its not instantly known to her or anyone else, but it changes her forever.

Sophie has a partner, 'Greg', who she has been dating for around 15 months. He's not yet popped the question, but he's building to it !

Sophie loves her job and she has a soft spot for David, or as she calls him 'Big D' although they are never going to be more than friends... or are they?
